Fourteenth day: The creation of lights in the firmament.
The atmosphere had been purified, and for the first time, the sun, moon, and stars were fully visible in the cloudless sky. They appear to be located within the firmament, although we know they are actually at vast distances from it.
Sixteenth day: Two great lights.
Because the day was considered to begin at sunset, the moon would initially appear as a significant light on the horizon compared to the smaller twinkling stars. However, its gentle glow would be overshadowed by the sun's brilliant radiance when it rose in the morning and reached its peak in the middle of the day. Both lights were established on the fourth day – not created, but appointed to their roles as essential luminaries for the world, governing time through their movements and influence.
