Third Day.
On the third day, God instructed the waters under the heavens to be gathered together in one place. This resulted in a terraqueous globe, with some areas being uplifted and others sinking, forming vast hollows where the water rushed in. As described in Psalm 104:6-9, this process created dry land on a large part of the earth, as well as oceans, seas, lakes, and rivers that are all connected to the sea (Job 38:10; Ecclesiastes 1:7).
On the third day, God commanded the earth to produce vegetation. The soil was clothed with greenery, including trees, plants, and grasses – the three main divisions of the vegetable kingdom. Notably, these were not created in the same way as light and air; instead, they grew from the ground through divine power, without the need for rain, dew, or labor. They sprouted up and flourished in a single day.
