Lu 5:17-26 Paralytic Healed.

Paralytic Healed.

The presence of Pharisees and doctors sitting by Jesus (17) is a significant indication of His growing influence and the need for the ecclesiastics to form an opinion about Him.

The power of the Lord was present with Jesus, enabling Him to heal those in need. However, the sick people were not the primary focus of their attention; rather, it was the Pharisees who sought to test Jesus' authority (17).

The paralytic man's friends lowered him through the tiling on the flat roof above Jesus, demonstrating their desperation and faith in His healing power (19). This remarkable act highlights the extent to which people were willing to go to access Jesus.

Jesus' response to the paralytic's forgiveness of sins was a deliberate challenge to the Pharisees, who were concerned about the legitimacy of His authority. The Lord's words, "Your sins are forgiven" (24), were a declaration that He had the power to forgive and heal.
