Christ Baffles the Pharisees by a Question about David and Messiah.
The Pharisees were asked whose son Jesus was to be, and they replied that He was the son of David. But Jesus pointed out that if this is true, then how could David in Scripture call Him "Lord"? This question highlights the unique nature of Jesus as both fully human and fully divine (Matthew 1:23). It also underscores the inspiration of the Old Testament Scriptures.
Beware of these scribes who love to take advantage of people's trust and vulnerability. They use their long prayers to make themselves appear more righteous, but in reality, they are motivated by a desire for wealth and power. Their actions will ultimately lead to greater condemnation (Matthew 23:5; Luke 14:7).
