2Ki 23:1-3 Josiah Causes the Law to Be Read.

Josiah Causes the Law to Be Read.

King Josiah called together all the elders of the people and had them gather around him. Feeling a deep sense of urgency after consulting with Huldah, he wanted to ensure his kingdom's safety and prevent impending calamities. He led the collective body of inhabitants in a solemn procession to the temple, where he ordered the book of the law to be read aloud to the assembled crowd.

He had the law read to them (2Ki 23:2), making sure everyone heard it clearly.

The people agreed to follow all the Lord's commandments, and Josiah covenanted with them to remain faithful. This public declaration was a significant moment in the nation's history, closely tied to a critical time of crisis. The king's example had a profound impact on the people, inspiring their devotion and encouraging them to return to their ancestral faith.

The people stood in agreement with the covenant (2Ki 23:3), indicating their unanimous consent to Josiah's proposals and their commitment to fulfilling the Lord's requirements.
